Stadium: Reputation for Spectacle
The Lake Haven Lizards were on the road again, taking on an experienced dark elven squad. Buoyed by the appearance of star player Slibli, the visiting side started well, having witch elf Horatia thrown off the pitch into the waiting arms of their supporters, before the ball had even been picked up, who roughed her up quite a bit before she was rescued and returned to the dugout, albeit unconscious. The elves countered by smacking Derwent (saurus) over and easing their way through the gap to create scoring options. A couple of short passes, and a couple of errors from the visitors presented the home side with a golden opportunity, which they duly took midway during the first half.
Horatia returned to the pitch to harass the saurians, making their defensive pockets look rather fragile at times. Accompanied by the second witch elf, Harlotte, the lizards struggled to defend their ball carrier, and found the going difficult. A failed dodge close to halftime however gave the visiting side the chance they needed. With a blitzer tripping over and stunning himself, Slibli threw himself at the ball carrier, flattening her. Inspired, sauri pushed their opponents aside to allow Tristan (skink) and opportunity to grab the pigskin, then scamper through for the equalizer right at the end of the half.
The lizards started the second half full of fire, injuring two elves and taking possession of the ball. Horatia quickly responded, attacking Tristan and stunning him, which started a fierce contest for the ball. Players from both sides would trip over trying to get to it, and when a skink did grab it and run off with it, they were hunted down, with the little lizards being stunned or knocked out. With the match heading into the last quarter, Slibli inspired his fellow saurians once again, angrily pushing Harlotte away from the ball, with others forcing their markers back. With Koby (skink) freed, all that was needed was a pick-up and hand-off from Tristan for the lizards to take the lead. Half of that task was successfully completed, but the open skink couldn't hang onto it, and the chance went begging [Turn 6]. The elves though would have the last opportunity to snatch a win. The ball was quickly promoted down the pitch, and when Keswick's (saurus) daring blitz failed, Horatia only had to stay on her feet long enough to grab the win. Unfortunately, as she crossed the line, her calves seized up, and she fell heavily, knocking herself out as the fulltime siren sounded.
